In collaboration with the very talented Object Company we worked together on the initial design ideas to produce our exclusive beautiful wood wares that can be enjoyed everyday and will stand the test of time. They are simple and functional and each piece is beautifully unique.
Catherine was trained as a painter at the Edinburgh College of Art and began working with wood in early 2014. Her wooden pieces reflect this period through an inquisitive and painterly approach to her designs. This open-minded approach and keen desire to mix both traditional and contemporary ideas and techniques, provides a unique aesthetic and encourages constant experimentation.
All the wood Catherine uses is grown in Scotland, the majority of timber used is from storm-felled trees within the Glasgow area. She also buys from a stockist in Fife who has the same ethics. Catherine handpicks the woods for the aesthetic value and strength.
All items are treated with raw linseed oil and beeswax. RLO is a natural, food safe oil, which polymerises within the wood once set, providing long lasting protection from within. The beeswax is from her friend’s hives in Lancashire however, within the next few months, she will be using beeswax from Glaswegian bees!
